Fuu, first results of my practice in composition and lineless painting. - A-
I had my laptop set up next to me, watching Once Upon A Time In The West, paused occasionally and sketched shots that I found most interesting. (I will draw more, but my hand started hurting after the intro. @w@ )
I saw in an interview of LeSean that he'd done the same with the fifth element, analysing and sketching.
Hopefully this will give me a bit of insight into better composition and light contrasts.
I actually feel like taking some of these shots and trying to paint a fully detailed picture of it too.
We'll see how I feel after a few more of them. c:
PS: If you've never seen this brilliant Sergio Leone film, you are missing out a masterpiece. go watch it! 8D
What an inspiration. I used to do this when I was younger and completely forgot all about it. To quick sketch from a movie is defenitly good use of reference to better skills.
ReplyDeleteAnd even those these are speedpaints, I'm just amazed at these. Looks like real thumbnails for a movie in production. Haha.
I'll be looking forward to more. And perhaps try this method myself. I'm on the road to practice as well. Keep it up, you're off to a wonderful start.
Oh man, these looks great! I think they're awesome how you did these, just for the color reference! The last panel especially looks really wonderful, the purples and greys in the image. I think this is a good practice- I had to do a lot of these in college in storyboarding classes *w* ehehe
